Thursday, rapper/philanthropist Kenna lead a group that includes actors Jessica Biel, Emile Hirsch and Isabel Lucas and musicians Lupe Fiasco and Santigold on the trip of a lifetime to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. The ascent of the highest peak in Africa is not a casual vacation among bold-named friends, though, but part of an awareness raising trek called the "Summit on the Summit" aimed at shining a light on the global clean-water crisis.
The group will be joined by a panel of eminent scientists and thinkers who've been working on bringing desperately needed clean water to developing nations around the globe, and their climb will be chronicled in a 90-minute documentary slated to air March 14 at 9 p.m. on MTV.

Don’t bring Beyonce to Trinidad and Tobago now.
That’s the cry of fete and Carnival show promoters as well as panmen and calypsonians who are also calling on TSTT CEO, Roberto Peon, to explain what is the company’s intention towards Carnival 2010 and beyond in light of the concert featuring the American R&B singer immediately after Carnival on Thursday, February 18.
The concerned parties are delivering a petition to Peon requesting a meeting with him signed by among others, promoter Frank Martineau, mas bandleaders Big Mike Antoine and Ronnie MacIntosh, Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation general secretary Lutalo ’Brother Resistance’ Masimba and former CEO of the Caribbean Prestige Foundation, Gregory Fernandes, who is spearheading the move to secure the sitdown.
’We want to discuss with TSTT the position they have taken to present Beyonce in concert so soon after Carnival and their decision to cut back and even pull sponsorship of Carnival events. We understand they have also cancelled the B-Square concert series at Woodford Square for this year. TSTT has contributed greatly to Carnival over the years and this is a surprise move. We want to know what their commitment to Carnival is,’ Fernandes said.

The members of Gloriana have noticed an immediate impact from winning the Breakthrough Artist of the Year trophy at the most recent American Music Awards.
"You don't realizing how many people are watching those TV shows; you win an award and you start going places," the group's Mike Gossin tells Billboard.com. "It's funny now; going to airports, people recognize us a lot more -- everywhere we go, really. They're like, 'Oh, I saw you win that award.' It was one of the highlights for this band so far. Cross our fingers, hopefully we'll win a lot more."
Gloriana -- Gossin, his older brother Tom, Rachel Reinert and Cheyenne Kimball -- was already off to a good start even before the AMAs. Its self-titled debut album, released in August, reached No. 2 on the Hot Country Albums chart and No. 3 on the Billboard 200, while the single "Wild at Heart" was a Top 15 hit. The group's second single, "How Far Do You Wanna Go?," is currently climbing the charts.

Former Playboy pin-up Cindy Margolis knows a thing or two about infertility, having given birth to her three children through IVF and later authoring the book “Having a Baby… When the Old-Fashioned Way Isn’t Working.”
Now she's bringing the idea to television with her new dating reality show, “Seducing Cindy,” to debut on the FOX Reality Channel on January 30.
“I am the spokesperson for Resolve, the National Infertility Association, so we could get away with it. We had one competition where the guys had to go through what I went through and give a sperm sample,” Margolis told Tarts. “It was interesting to have 25 guys go off into a room and bring you back a sperm sample. Clinically, I know how to test sperm, and I tested each of the guy’s sperm on my show. It was the craziest thing.”
The dating reality show has men aged 18-49 competing in a range of interesting competitions in the hope of scoring Margolis’s hand in love. And according to the upcoming reality starlet, the guys were happy to go through with the “sperm” game.

Project Runway is returning to New York for its 7th Season and that calls for a celebration! What will NYC do to celebrate? Rename a street, of course!
Tim Gunn and Nina Garcia will be joining city officials and fashion industry representatives at a street-naming ceremony.
The event will occur in front of the iconic “Needle Threading a Button” sculpture in NYC’s Fashion District, where Fashion Avenue will be temporarily renamed, “Project Runway Avenue.”
But that’s not all!
NYC & Company will also present a NYC Proclamation deeming Wednesday, Jan. 13 as Project Runway Day in honor of the show’s contribution to NYC’s fashion industry.
The premiere of Project Runway Season 7 airs on Thursday, Jan. 14 on Lifetime Television.

"If I even imagined someone talking to my husband too close, I would beat the crap out of them," the reality star, 25, tells The Insider.
Though they are trying to have a baby now, she stressed that she is not currently pregnant. "I just gained some love weight and it gives [Lamar] something to hold on to," she says. (She previously told UsMagazine.com that she gained seven pounds since wedding in September. "I just haven't been working out as much and eating badly," she told Us. "My husband is known as the candy man. All he does is eat candy, and I join in and that's not great. But now we're settled in and bought a house, and I'm back to my routine," which includes QuickTrim.)
She tells The Insider Lamar "is really eager to have a baby and I wanna have babies. I just got married four months ago, I'm not doing anything to prevent having a baby right now."
Sister Kim says she isn't quite ready for that step with on-again beau Reggie Bush.
"There's no plan as of now to get married," says Kim, 29. "We've been together for years and we're just having a good, happy relationship."
Despite both being in committed relationships, they still have their celeb crushes.
Kim says "it would be really sexy to have George Clooney once. I think he is so sexy!"

She got brownboxed. There are only 21 pictures left in her closet and none of the ones that are left have her cat in them.
ETA2: Her cosplay items ARE STILL THERE. I originally wrote "Apparently however cosplay items are legal, because one of the items remaining is her cat hood with cat ears and cat paw gloves." People keep freaking out like I said cosplay items were illegal. I never said that, I said that they left those IN her closet when they removed the hundreds of pictures she had where her cat was sitting there modelling jewellery or next to a makeup item.
I am really annoyed because I'm pretty sure I know who's behind it--they started a stink about her on the Japanese boards and got a lot of people to complain--but my point is that all her items were legal, the cat was just in them all, usually either modeling the items or under them or right near them.
Apparently, not only are you no longer allowed to model your own items, or to have another person model them, you cannot even have your CAT model your items, this is considered to be a picture of your cat, not your clothes, even if the cat is WEARING your clothing or jewellery or asleep on or in your bag.
*fumes* I thought I'd better say something since many people in the community do have pets who occasionally appear in their pics and most of us even enjoy seeing this (frankly, I would rather see strangers' cats than their babies...)
ETA: Anyone notice when the amendment was made to the rules saying that they will only take ribbon items as an illegal item deletion penalty? This is now in the rules (it's on the page with all the boxes you have to check before you post a photo you've uploaded), and she is in fact nekkid except for her cat ears etc which are jewel items. I suppose that's somewhat fair since we do pay real money for jewels, but I have used a lot of jewels to get ribbons to buy rare old ribbon items... |

You know how Brad Pitt looks with his beard right now? How when you look at his face all you can focus on is how long and scraggly and weirdly matted it is on the ends? And how you just wish he'd get rid of it so you could enjoy the bottom line — his gorgeous face? St. John has similar feelings about having Angelina Jolie in their ads. Just like when you look at Brad's face all you see is his beard, they have realized then when you look at St. John ads all you see is Angelina Jolie. But that shan't continue for spring! The label is dismissing her since she "overshadowed" the brand, St. John's CEO tells WWD: “We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette.”
So they hired redhead model Karen Elson, shot by photographer Greg Kadel. "We have evolved," the CEO boasts.

As if having Janie Bryant in your closet (via her collection for Brooks Brothers) wasn't enough -- make room for her on your bookshelf. The Mad Men costume designer will be releasing a style guide this fall.
"I really love helping people look their best through the right wardrobe, which allows them to feel great about themselves," says Bryant. "It is all about wearing clothes that fit their character and the story they want to tell. Fashion allows each of us to express our creativity and unique style."

In the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres discuss Ellen's upcoming judgeship at the singing competition, and address the gay banter between Simon and Ryan that has been criticized in the past:
DeGeneres: Simon, I guess this is as good a time as any to tell you – I’m gay.
Cowell: Are you serious? No one told me that. Let me tell you something: We are the least racist, homophobic show in the world. What we do have, thank God, is a sense of humor. I hate political correctness. I wouldn’t go into any show saying anything is off-limits. If we have to abide by a ton of rules, we might as well call it a day now.
EW: Is that cool with you, Ellen?
DeGeneres: Well, I don’t go by that rule, where there’s no political correctness at all. If we lived in a world where there was no such thing as racism or homophobia, then obviously there would be no off-limits. Unfortunately, there are people in this world that don’t like other people, and that was one of the issues that was brought up about Adam Lambert. So I’m sensitive to it just because I’ve experienced that kind of discrimination. At the same time, the stuff that Simon and Ryan do – none of that has ever been offensive to me. I’m more offended by people who make jokes about something sounding like an animal that’s been caught in a lawn mower or whatever. Because there are sick people out there that would go, “What’s that sound like?”

The critically acclaimed but low-rated NBC comedy series “Community” returns tonight [OP note: There's actually a rerun of 1.08 on tonight. The next new one is Jan. 14th]. The series follows a group of middle-aged misfits and twenty-something slackers as they navigate the pitfalls of studying at a Denver community college not known for its academic rigor. The series quickly gained fans in comedy circles and is slowly picking up viewers who watch other Thursday night comedies on NBC like “The Office,” “Parks and Recreation,” and “30 Rock.”
Donald Glover, 26, plays Troy Barnes, a former prom king and high-school quarterback, who takes classes at Greendale Community College, opposite Joel McHale and Chevy Chase. Speakeasy spoke to Glover about the show.
The Wall Street Journal: “Community” debuted to a lot of critical acclaim, but the ratings weren’t so great. Do you think the series is picking up steam?
( I really do feel like it’s picking up, yeah. It got a lot of praise up top but I think it’s hard to get viewers, especially when you’re on at 8 p.m. 8 p.m. isn’t really where our audience is. But even more so, it’s the kind of show, like “30 Rock,” that a lot people watch on DVR and DVD. So, I’m not so focused or worried about that type of stuff [ratings] because it’s beyond my control. ) |

Sega has revealed that the Aliens vs. Predator Hunter Edition, announced originally for Europe earlier this month, will be hugging the US in the face as well. That's a good thing.
Aliens vs. Predator has only been in the news due to its battle with the Australian Classification Board but now that the ugliness is over (Sega won their appeal; the game will be released in the land down under), we can turn our attention to the game itself.
This one really does have a ton of potential, and if you're convinced of its impending quality, perhaps you'll spring for the special Hunter Edition.
Previously announced for European territories, it has now been revealed that this jam-packed bundle will also be coming to the US, which only proves that publishers aren't too concerned about pricey packages.

Here's a not-so-sunny forecast in the OC: Real Housewives of Orange County star Tamra Barney has been served divorce papers by husband Simon Barney. In papers posted at RadarOnline, Simon contends that his wife "has been verbally abusive and has committed acts of disloyalty and infidelity."
The couple have been married for 11 years and have three children, ages four, nine and ten; Tamra, 42, has an older son, Ryan, 23, from a previous marriage. Tamra's marriage troubles have been documented on the current season of Bravo's hit reality series. The strong-willed pair have butted heads in recent episodes over financial troubles, Tamra's desire to re-enter the workforce, her troubled son Ryan, and her friendship with fellow housewife Vicki Gunvalson.
RadarOnline reports that Tamra had moved out of their shared home earlier this week into an apartment -- but had been unaware that Simon was filing divorce papers.
In a BravoTV.com blog post Dec. 11, Simon defended his bad rep as a "controlling evil husband," as he puts it.
"I have been presented over and over as being controlling. Yes, it’s true! I admit it again. I am controlling! Controlling the damage and protecting my family. If you have seen my wife in the last few seasons, you know that if I was controlling I must suck at it."
He added: "Being on a reality show is not my priority in life. My wife and children's happiness and well being is."
