Since, the theme for this month is music, I was curious to know what instruments work well with lolita and what don't.
For me, I see 5 particular instruments that work well:
1. Violin
2. Flute
3. Piano
4. Harp
5. Clarinet
The five instruments that don't work (in my opinion):
1. Sousaphone (it's just too big and would mess with the lace)
2. Tuba
3. Baritone Saxophone (I play this, and the thing is 3x bigger then an Alto Saxophone..I don't think it would work =/)
4.Timpani 5. Double Bass (or String Bass, same instrument different name)
What's your 5 best/worst instruments that can or can't work with lolita? |

| Maddens storm out of radio interview |

Good Charlotte rockers Joel and Benji Madden have stormed out of a Melbourne radio station after taking offence to an interview segment about Britney Spears.
The normally laid-back twins began the interview with Fox 101.9 breakfast show hosts Jo Stanley and Matt Tilley by warning the pair that they were "pretty wrecked" after a big night out.
After answering a few preliminary questions, the Madden brothers were asked to play a game to test if they could sense what the other was feeling.
The game soon turned pear-shaped when Benji was blindfolded and Joel was shown a well-known photograph of Spears getting out of a car without her underwear on.
Benji promptly guessed that his brother was annoyed while Joel made no secret of his irritation.
"I think I'm pretty laid back dude, but you guys are getting on my nerves," he said.
A spokeswoman for the radio show told ninemsn that producers were forced to use the "dump button" to prevent expletives from the musicians going to air.
Joel could then be heard saying "we're outta here" before storming out of the studio just as Tilley was attempting to move onto a new challenge.
His brother left the studio shortly after, the spokeswoman said.
Joel was quick to vent his fury at the radio hosts on Twitter.
"Just walked out of a FOXfm interview in Melbourne not in the mood to be a clown," he wrote in a post.
"Most of the time I can put up with idiot morning show hosts but not today. I guess I have finally found some Aussies I don't get on with."
Joel told producers off air he was offended about being shown the photo of Spears because he was a father.

Jackson's daughter gets haircut at top celebrity salon
Accompanied by her brothers, late pop star Michael Jackson's 11-year-old daughter Paris visited Andy Lecompte's salon in Los Angeles for a haircut and to get her nails painted black.
Other celebrities who frequent this salon include Madonna, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and actress Gwyneth Paltrow, thesun.co.uk reported. Paris was accompanied by her brothers Prince Michael and Blanket and their bodyguards.
Paris got her hair washed, cut and styled and also had her nails painted black.
Other clients present there described the girl as 'weird'. One client said, 'They weren't like normal children at all because they seemed to have no joy or playfulness about them. I know they recently lost their father but their complete lack of emotion meant it was like watching three robots.'

Gwyneth Paltrow has a gender-bending new role to add to her resume.
The actress, 37, has signed on to star in The Danish Girl opposite Nicole Kidman, in a role that brings the story of the first post-operative transsexual to the big screen.
According to Variety, Paltrow will join previously cast Kidman, 42, as Greta, the supportive wife of Kidman's Einar Wegener.
In the love story, Paltrow's portrait painter Greta asks her husband to stand in for a female model -- and encourages him to continue donning a dress and stockings after her portraits become increasingly more popular. When Einar transforms into Lili, Greta's original plan causes tension in their marriage.
The Danish Girl does not yet have a release date.

Hello there
First time poster, long time stalker of steampunk fashion awesomeness.
So as the title says its never too early for... NEXT HALLOWEEN.
For some it may be too soon seeing as Halloween was 10 days ago.
But for me its never too early.
Last year early into the year I had decided that I was to be Blind Mag from Repo! the Genetic Opera this year.
And the costume was little more than a epic fail.
So on November 1st I had a brilliant idea to be a steampunk wind up doll for next year.
I'd like your input on what I can do to tweak Mag's costume.

Mania.com has heard from reliable sources that Sam Raimi and company have begun the process of casting the villains and supporting players of 'Spider-Man 4'. We can exclusively reveal that actress Rachel McAdams has met with the producers of the film for a major role. McAdams (of 'Wedding Crashers' and 'Sherlock Holmes' fame) is said to be a top contender for the role of Felicia Hardy, known to comic fans as The Black Cat. Our sources tell us that the Black Cat's story fits well with Raimi's Spider-Man formula, which always finds the villains troubling not only the costumed hero, but also becoming entangled in Peter Parker's personal life as well. Fans recall that when Spidey first encounters the Black Cat, she's a cat burgler looking to free her ailing father from prison. She becomes smitten with the web-slinger, to the point of a stalker-level obsession. Later stories had Peter reciprocating her affection and her becoming a lover, a friend and ally (the perfect thing to allow Sony to create a Spidey spin-off). And it looks like it'll be a two-villain movie. Our source also says they are casting for a male villain, but had few details. However, this would seem to discount the idea that Lizard is the primary, since the role of Dr. Conners has been cast since movie #2. I'm mixed up about this - on one hand, I'd love to see Rachel play a comic bok character, on the other hand, I'm still very skeptical over the possible quality of this movie. Guess we'll have to wait and see. |

I do a lot of paper crafts below is a card I made and a scrapbook page on a 12x12 canvas. I am bad about using up my paper scraps and I throw out quite a bit. If I stuffed an envelope full would anyone be interested in receiving it in the mail? Reply with your email and I can use that to get an address rather than you leaving it here publicly.

| Dollhouse Posts a 57% Increase with DVR Viewings |

I’m sure the fact that the October 23 episode of Dollhouse increased its adults 18-49 ratings 57% from Live+SD to Live+7 will be batted back and forth across the ‘net, but it still only reached a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating (compare that to the 1.1 Live+SD rating for a 2 hour a 1.2 preliminary Live+SD rating for the 9pm hour of a House repeat on 10/30, and the timeslot competition below). Dollhouse fans are on a viewing hiatus, courtesy of Fox wanting to do better on Fridays during the November sweeps, so there will be plenty of time for discussion before there are any more Dollhouse ratings to report.
By comparison, the other shows in the Friday 9pm timeslot that week (October 19-25) had the following Live+7 ratings: Medium (2.5), Ugly Betty (1.6), Dateline NBC (1.8), Smallville (1.4).
Edit: Note that these shows aired regular timeslot repeats that week: CSI, The Mentalist, Vampire Diaries, Supernatural.

| Emma Thompson's Name To Be Removed From Polanski Petition This Week! |

 Emma Thompson was on The View today to talk about her admirable work fighting sex trafficking. Strangely, the ladies didn't ask her about another case of sexual exploitation—the one Roman Polanski perpetrated and Thompson initially appeared to endorse. Thompson, you see, disappointed many of her fans earlier this fall when she signed a petition — along with a host of other boldface names, including Salman Rushdie, Natalie Portman, and Diane Von Furstenburg — demanding that Polanski be freed on charges relating to his rape of a 13-year-old girl in 1977. Luckily, Caitlin Hayward-Tapp was nowhere near as abstemious as the View ladies: last week, the 19-year-old Exeter University student gutsily convinced Thompson to remove her name from the petition demanding Polanski's freeing. But as of this morning, Thompson's name was still on the petition, which is hosted on the website of French public intellectual Bernard Henri-Levy. After we contacted her a few hours ago, Ms. Thompson's publicist told us that her client "...requested that her name be removed when she said she would. We have asked for confirmation from them but have not yet received it." We also asked Mr. Henri-Levy's camp for an update, and Liliane Lazar, a former French professor who worked with him on the petition, responded, saying that Thompson's name will be removed Wednesday. As for why it would take several days to remove a line from a posting on a webpage, Ms. Lazar has yet to say.

To be honest I'm still disappointed that she signed it in the first place. However, I suppose it could have been easier just to keep her name on it. I checked the petition myself after seeing her on The View and her name has been removed. Hopefully this isn't the only one we see backtracking. I still love her though.

Thom Yorke is like most bloggers, jumping around from subject to subject. Before today, Yorke's most recent post on Radiohead's Dead Air Space site was a stoned Halloween playlist, which endorsed jams from the diverse likes of Buffalo Springfield, Blaqstarr, and Alvo Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Evangeline Lilly thinks people have to stop having babies to save the planet.
The actress - who is been dating her co-star Dominic Monaghan since they met on the set of 'Lost' in 2004 - believes people are procreating at an alarming rate and must slow down their baby-making or adopt to "protect" the Earth.
She said: "For a very long time, I have had intentions to adopt. We have a huge population problem on Earth. We're not going to protect the Earth the way we need to protect it if we don't stop making so many babies."
Despite her views on adoption, the 30-year-old beauty is desperate to experience the "gift" of pregnancy and will "allow" herself one baby of her own.
Evangeline - who plays fugitive Kate Austen in 'Lost' - said: "I have always wanted to have a child of my own and I will always want to go through the gift that women have been given to experience that, so I hope to be a mother at some point. I think I can allow myself one child - and from then on, I think I would have to adopt. It makes sense not to add to the population problem."

Thurston Moore: From Sonic Youth to Book Publisher
Thurston Moore may or may not be ecstatically peaceful, but he is certainly busy. In addition to running his own record label, Ecstatic Peace!, playing in the pioneering experimental noise rock band Sonic Youth, and collaborating on music with everyone from DJ Spooky to Lydia Lunch, he recently started his own book imprint, also called Ecstatic Peace.
The first book, photographer Justine Kurland’s “This Train Is Bound For Glory,” will be available in bookstores early next year. Sonic Youth is currently heading for Europe for some tour dates, then more in the U.S., and an extended European tour next summer. Moore will receive a lifetime achievement award from U.K. music magazine “Q” at the end of this month. The band even appeared on “Gossip Girls” last night.
Wall Street Journal: The book industry is facing falling sales figures and seems to be in decline. Why start a book imprint now?
Moore: Why not? I can never let something as incredible as a recession stop me. I feel more empowered now that a lot of people are throwing their hands up. You don’t start a record label or a book imprint to get rich.

Meanwhile, continuing with her motto of “There’s nothing Lauren Conrad can do that I won’t copy and do tackier” Speidi is set to promote their latest endeavor –a book.
Earlier this year, Lauren topped the New York Times Bestseller list with her debut novel LA Candy. The book was a fictional account of a girl thrust into stardom when she is chosen for a reality TV show. It is currently being adapted into a movie by the producers of Twilight.
Not to be outdone. Heidi is set to take the literary world by storm with Compton Cookie, a fictionalized account of a girl who becomes the sidekick on a hit reality television show then proceeds to sabotage her best friend’s reputation with false rumors before marrying her douchebag boyfriend. The rights were bought by Ryan Seacrest and it is currently being adapted into a straight-to-tv movie for the Lifetime channel.

| Utada is going to be IN THE FLESH - US Tour Announced! |

Utada “In The Flesh” Tour 2010
Rumors have been circulating of a possible tour in January, and we have gotten word that Utada will in fact be touring in early 2010, though no dates or venues have yet to be set in stone. It appears that, in addition to DJ Mike Rizzo (confirmed by a member at UtadaNet), Utada will have a band backing her on this tour, opening up the possibility of more than a simple club tour. An official confirmation from Island Def Jam should not be far behind.
UPDATE: According to MuuMuse, Utada will start her tour in Hawaii in mid-January, with a total of 10 US dates, followed by at least one date in the UK, ending February 12th. The Stateside events will be handled by Live Nation.
UPDATE 2: Utada’s UK concert will take place at O2 Academy Islington on February 12th.
UPDATE 3: Tickets for Utada’s London show go on sale November 13th at 9AM. Ticket prices start from £20.
UPDATE 4: According the Stargreen Box Office, doors for the London show will open at 7PM.
UPDATE 5: Livenation.com has added 2 US tour dates: Seattle on January 21st at the Showbox, and Chicago on February 2nd at the House Of Blues. Ticket sales begin on November 14th and 13th, respectively.
UPDATE 6: San Francisco has been added to the list of US dates: Utada will be performing at the Fillmore on January 24th.

For instance, remember earlier in the day when super-scooper Michael Ausiello broke the news that upcoming GREY’S ANATOMY guest star Leven Rambin (TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES) represents what showrunner Shonda Rhimes calls a “new obstacle” for Mark and Lexie. It's always been tough to imagine Justin Timberlake fitting into a movie about the geeky origins of Facebook, even if he was slated to play hard-partying advisor and "founding president" Sean Parker. That mental struggle is over. Pacific Coast News has snapped a picture of Timberlake on the set of The Social Network, the Facebook flick also staring Jesse Eisenberg as co-founder and current CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Andrew Garfield as spurned co-founder Eduardo Saverin. We've put the shot, above, next to a Jan. 2009 Getty picture of real-life Sean Parker. Timberlake's got the the curly hair down; with some highlights and that wardrobe he might pass for the 'N Sync version of himself from the late 1990s.

In another explosive recorded audio tape obtained exclusively by RadarOnline.com, Lindsay Lohan's assistant Jenni Muro reveals her fear that Lindsay was killing herself.
The taped phone call is between Jenni Muro and Michael Lohan. In it, Jenni angrily tells Michael her fears about Lindsay's fragile state and expresses her opinion about the destructiveness of Lindsay's then-romantic relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson.
"I am trying to save your daughter's life every day," Jenni tells Michael on the tape.
Showing the depths of her fear that Lindsay will harm herself, Jenni tells Michael that she wants to stop working for Lindsay "because I don't want it on my watch either."

You better believe Khloé Kardashian was watching last night’s two hour wedding special on E!. The new Mrs. Odom just took to her blog to share a few never-before-seen photos from her wedding and give her personal take on last night’s wedding special.
Khloé wrote, "It was both incredible and stressful reliving those crazy two weeks. With the last minute wedding planning, and dealing with the different reactions of my family members, it was difficult enough the first time around! LOL."
